EMF is Electromagnetic Fields.

“EMF / EMR” usually means the same thing. EMF is short for Electromagnetic fields, and EMR is short for Electromagnetic Radiation. In both cases, the term comes to describe non-ionizing radiation.

Main types of EMF

We are mostly exposed to 3 types of EMF; ELF and RF:

  • ELF – Extreme Low Frequencies 1-300Hz, usually magnetic field, very hard and cost a lot to block and usually fades away after a short distance (compared with RF).
    • ELF Magnetic field
    • ELF Electric field
  • RF – Radio Frequencies – 100KHz-300GHz, usually electric field, kind of simple and cheap to block, can travel long distances. UMTS, GSM, CDMA, LTE, WIMAX, Microwave, WIFI, 3G, 4G, 5g, Bluetooth, AM, FM, DVBT , all are subtypes of RF.
  • Dirty Electricity – High Frequency interference and noise that exist and created over our power lines and electric wires.

Can EMF exposure cause pain, symptoms and health effects?

Some people will react to the exposure to EMF radiation with the appearance of symptoms, in some cases pain. These people are usually called EHS (Electromagnetic Hypersensitive) people.

In addition, EMF radiation was defined as “a possibly carcinogenic” (by the WHO in 2011) and there are studies showing biological effects of EMF exposure in low levels, cancer links, low sperm count, and other health effects.
